Unveiling the Heroic Tale: Vimal Mehra’s “Agni-Samadhi” Brings Chittorgarh’s Valor to Life

Vimal Mehra’s narrative poem Agni-Samadhi, based on the heroic tale of Chittorgarh’s first Saka (battle) and Jauhar (self-immolation), was unveiled in Jodhpur in a grand event organized by the Society for Creative Satisfaction at Bal Niketan School.

Celebrating Literary Excellence

The event was graced by senior critic Dr. Ramakant Sharma, who presided over the ceremony, with Dr. Haridas Vyas serving as the chief guest. Noted storyteller Hari Prakash Rathi attended as the guest of honor, while Mahavir Singh ‘Khursheed’ Khairadi presented the event. The society’s joint secretary, MM ‘Armaan,’ conducted the program.

Dr. Sunil Mathur, the society’s president, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, while secretary Kamal Sharma highlighted the society’s creative pursuits and announced its upcoming silver jubilee celebrations. Anil Anwar, the founder of the society, presented literary books to the guests, and patron Mridula Srivastava gifted them mementoes.

The narrative poem was officially unveiled, followed by a ceremonial honor for Vimal Mehra. He was presented with garlands, a turban, a shawl, a coconut, literary gifts, and a memento. Mehra captivated the audience by reciting excerpts from Agni-Samadhi and some of his other poems.

Mahavir Singh ‘Khursheed’ Khairadi praised Agni-Samadhi as an extraordinary work celebrating Chittorgarh’s valor while offering constructive criticism. Guest of honor Hari Prakash Rathi emphasized India’s tradition of preserving history through metrical poetry and lauded Mehra’s contribution as a household-worthy creation.

Dr. Haridas Vyas highlighted the balance between emotional flow and metrical discipline in poetry, citing Tulsidas as an example of poetic greatness.
