Upasana Kamineni Konidela has often spoken about empowering women, and beyond that too, she has lent extensive support for their betterment. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Upasana urges women to be financially independent – not with the sole aim of earning money – but to be able to make their own choices, sustain a lifestyle, plan for the future, and make decisions without relying on a spouse, family, or anyone else. “Financial independence isn’t just about earning money—it’s about having the power to make choices,” she says.
Bringing clarity over the progressive ideology, Upasana highlighted that financial independence is a collective narrative of having an earning capability, understanding savings, budgeting, investments, having the ability to make free financial choices, build assets, emergency funds/security, and plan for retirement, healthcare, and unexpected expenses.
“When a woman is financially independent, she has the freedom to shape her life on her own terms, support her family without constraints, and contribute meaningfully to society,” says Upasana. Beyond highlighting the importance of financial independence for women, she also focussed on thought-provoking aspects such as how financial independence would affect relationships/marriages, how would you invest in yourself (education, health, personal growth), what choices would you have made for your children or parents if you had financial freedom, how would your confidence and decision-making change if you never had to ask for money, and lastly, what is stopping you to from taking control of your finances.
“When a woman controls her own finances, she invests in better healthcare, nutrition, and education—not just for herself, but for her loved ones. Financial independence isn’t just about wealth; it’s about well-being, dignity, and freedom,” says Upasana Kamineni Konidela. She supported her views with proof, stating that research shows that financially independent women take better care of their health and their family’s well-being.
This Women’s Day, Upasana Kamineni Konidela urges women to take a step towards securing their future, emphasising that their independence matters to them, their family, and the generations that follow.
